It's to do with the binding energy per nucleon. A larger element (eg uranium) splits into two more more stable elements that have higher binding energy per nucleon. The difference in binding energies per nucleon is more or less the energy released per nucleon, provided ass remains constant (which is doesn't. but mass-energy conservation applies). This energy is released as kinetic energy through the emitted particles.

Ohm's law is not actually a law.

Ohm's law states that I=V/R.

However R is defined by R:=V/I.

Ohm's law is just the definition of resistence and tells us nothing about the physical world at all. It is an analytic truth, not a law.

Why do even some of my physics profs not get this?

Or am I missing something here?
