I have recently been diagnosed with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and my doctor has given me 20mg of Omeprazole to manage the symptoms. Whilst I am aware of the possible serious side effects of taking PPIs long term, I was wondering how safe PPIs are for short term relief (1-2 months)? I am very concerned with some of the potential side effects listed for Omeprazole, and I often get anxiety before, during and after taking the medication due to my pharmacophobia. Is Omeprazole relatively safe to take overall or not?
>I took Lansoprazole ages ago without any serious side effects.
Thanks.
