Do you have any other examples that don't coincide with forced labor and lack of freedom?

In contrast, there is ample data that increased economic freedoms lead to greater growth and higher quality of life.

The extremely right wing Heritage Foundation concluded many social democracies like Australia, Canada and Denmark ranked very highly in terms of economic freedom. I doubt a group like that would massage their statistics in favor of liberal governments.

America is more than wealthy enough to support welfare programs, if the citizenry so wished. And illegal immigration is not a problem for welfare programs because you must be a citizen in order to qualify. All Mexicans do by coming over is fill low-wage jobs. Most are afraid of applying for even legitimate government aid because they fear deportation on spurious grounds.
