I think it's something like pic related. We're looking for the signals we are capable of making and which make sense to us, but what means of communication does a lifeform 10,000 times as advanced as us use? How can we hope to speculate?

Suppose a lifeform has a limitless lifespan and infinite patience. The idea of remote communication might seem pointless to such a being, as it "only" takes a few dozen thousand years to travel back to their collective. Why send a message when you can go home and say it in person?

Why is funding for science and research usually so scant and hard to get a hold of?

Let me rephrase this so you can try and solve it without it violation your reality.

Put simply. If I put two identical clocks in two identical star systems, with one star system near the edge of the galaxy and the other star system near the center of the galaxy. Will there be a time difference caused by their distance from the galactic center in caused by their movement? Note I am ignoring gravity effects for this question, I only want to know how their speeds and directions affects the flow of time.

To long to read, additional info: They are methods to allow for FTL with current physics models. The main reason I made such an assumption is that communication and travel are important parts of a civilization. If such things where not allowed how would a civilization of that scale exist? Don't answer that, it was rhetorical. I wanted to focus on the different that happens between the two star systems. As there is so much info about the time problems of a traveler. I want to know about the possible time problems of two people who are just sitting at home on different planets at different parts of the galaxy. This can be solved with current physics and you can ignore the FTL part if you think it to fictitious and disruptive. I did that to avoid certain government structuring issues from arising. Although if there is a significant difference found I would expand to how that would change government, probably move to POL at that point. The thing is to ignore the traveling or communication part. I used the assumption of FTL to make those things non issues, to simplify things not to disregard physics. Although I am open to good alternate theories as we can not test this yet, but want this to be as grounded as possible.

Your method of questioning is starting to make me suspect that you want us to do your homework for you...

Anyways, if we say that radio waves travel at the speed of light (which they don't but for the sake of simplicity it's close enough) and sending out messages with SETI for 35 years we could get a response as far away as 17.5 light years, assuming the response was immediate.

If the aliens were sending out radio waves before we started listening then we could be receiving them from literally any distance... They could have been travelling for thousands of years before they got to earth or they could have been sent twenty years ago.

We're also assuming that they would be using radio waves to attempt communication, which reminds me of this comic.

There is no god.

People will shout wanting proof.

But, wouldn't it support the idea that there is no god if there is no proof?

How can you give proof that something does not exist? Isn't not having proof, evidence in itself that something does not exist?

The burden of proof is on the people with the claims that god exists, not on the people trying to disprove these beliefs.

/r/ing the comic piece that says something along the lines of, "What if they're all wrong and we make the world a better place?" in reference to global warming.

In return, another good comic piece.

there are no signs of manipulation in the universe

an intelligent life form would begin to form the universe after his needs at some point...building structures...but everything seems natural...galaxies drift undisturbed since billions of years...there is nothing, no anomaly, no pattern
