Because fuck you, that's why.

"'The universe cannot be read until we have learned the language and become familiar with the characters in which it is written. It is written in mathematical language, and the letters are triangles, circles and other geometrical figures, without which means it is humanly impossible to comprehend a single word. Without these, one is wandering about in a dark labyrinth" -Galileo Galilei

"We are not speaking here of arbitrariness in any sense. Mathematics is not like a game whose tasks are determined by arbitrarily stipulated rules. Rather, it is a conceptual system possessing internal necessity that can only be so and by no means otherwise." -David Hilbert

Hey physicsfags, I know you're on at this hour.

First off this isn't a fucking homework thread, this is a physics thread about something that I am ill-knowledged on. Go ban the asinine troll science threads and philosophy mars discussions if you want to be a mod.

I'm just starting some qft this quarter and I'm completely clueless on this.

I'm supposed to show that the amplitude
<div class="math">-i \int \frac{d^{3} k}{(2 \pi)^{3} 2 \omega_{k}} [e^{-i(\omega_{k} t - \mathbf{k} \cdot \mathbf{x})} \theta (x^{0}) + e^{i (\omega_{k} t - \mathbf{k} \cdot \mathbf{x})} \theta (-x^{0})]</div>
where <span class="math">\mathbf{k}
is the wave vector and <span class="math">x^{0}=0
with <span class="math">\theta(0)=1/2
decays exponentially, I'm assuming inverse squared? For separation from the origin to x. Sorry for the garbage LaTeX, I'm not that good with it.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Contour integrals and gaussians always scared me, so I don't know what the hell is going on here or how I am even supposed to start.

nope. you can't fit CS into any of these categories. math/logic are sciences.
