I don't get it,

Lets say i have an Oak tree outside which in the next 5 years will produce: an outrageous amount of leaves; acorns; and (for example) one cubic meter of wood.

The tree hasn't gone anywhere in the past 5 years, there certainly isn't a cubic meter of soil missing from around the roots.
Where did the material for this new cubic meter of wood come from? Not to mention the countless piles of leaves, acorns etc.

Is all this new plant matter extracted from the air? from the water? Are the Chinese behind this?

Ok, so here are my thoughts on this

First of all, everyone on this thread favors and will continue favorring the comments that suit their own beliefs no matter the arguments proposed here. There is the exception of those few who feel quite lost on the subject and a few years ago I felt just about the same

I've always prefered to say that I believe myself to be purely matter, and what makes me see, makes me experience is the expression of the shape, form and information contained by the matter the conforms me

I think this thread is not just touching the subject of what happens after death, it's also just about every single myth and belief created in the last 10,000 years of human civilization

Well continuing on, a simple thought excersice is that, if everything that makes your being is contained in your body, then your memories, thoughts, consciousness and all other mental processes happen in it as well, and since this the science board of 4chan, observations of different brain activities while doing different excersizes will be my argument

So consciousness is also inside contained in the brain. Our own vision of our self believes that our mind is a single thing that is inseperable, one piece. Fact is a mind comes in parts

.73 = p(b) + p(m) -.3

.30 = p(b) * p(m)

I think this can be used to find B.

Heya /sci/, I had a question about the Schrodinger's Box thought experiment and was hoping one of you quantum guys could help me out.

What prevents the cat from acting as an observer in the experiment? Isn't it self-aware enough to "observe" that it is alive and a cat, and therefore wouldn't achieve superposition? If this isn't so, why?

Also, have physicists come up with a reason why once something achieves superposition it resolves back to its original form instead of something else? (say, you place a rock in a box and shut it, walk away, and someone wholly unaware of what's in the box opens it; what prevents the rock's waveform from collapsing to become Gwen Paltrow's head?)

What kind of algorithms does a computer or calculator use to calculate trigonometric functions?

Moreover, how did mathematicians create (or discover) these algorithms?

I dont understand how to figure this out because im a shit head at trig, can you help me out please /sci/?

Jack is on a cruise boat looking at famous houses around midnight harbour. On the edge of the water in front of one house, he notices a lamp post. with his clinometer, he quickly measures the angle of elevation to the top of the lamp post to be 34 degrees and the angle of depression to the foot of the lamp post to be 12 degrees. if the captain of the boat announces that they are 52m away from the lamp post, how tall is the lamp post to the nearest tenth of a meter?

any help would be appreciated, i cant fucking wait til im done with trig

I seriously don't understand how people believe in god. At all.

Do you have some kind of selective reality ability, and you can put blind faith into something that's obviously not true? That honestly gives you comfort from reality?

Or were you just so brainwashed by your parents when you were a kid?

Let's have a discussion about π. It seems weird to me that, given the irrationality of π, this seems that we can't precisely calculate the circumference (also, surface) of a circle or any elliptic shape for that mater. Can this be extrapolated to greater heights, such as the universe and thus the size of the universe is immeasurable past a certain precision point? Wouldn't that mean that the universe in its entirety is of no "finite" size? What am I missing here?

So, /sci/... Going back in time is possible via FTL travel, according to the laws of physics today, amirite? But is it really? I.E. say one were to open a wormhole with an exit a lightyear away from the earth, you would see it from there as it was a year ago, correct? But you open a wormhole back to earth, and it would be just the way it was as you left?

Imagine how fucking different our understanding of physics would be if we didn't have eyes.

Just doing some boring studying and a brief, notion of a partially formed idea entered my mind:

"If anti-matter is essentially just regular matter traveling the opposite direction through time, then surely the reason that our Universe has such a large bias towards regular matter is such that the "big Bang" or "big expansion" generated all the matter in the Universe, and the eventual collapse of all matter into another singularity (which is simply a big bang in reverse) is what created all of the anti-matter. Since our Universe is still pretty damn new, there's very little anti-matter in regards to regular matter, but as the Universe grows ever older the ratio will begin to climb in favour of anti-matter. Perhaps even 14 billion years before the death of the Universe we will see anti-matter civilisations similar to our own that (from our point of view) are regressing to a simpler state."

It's likely to be riddled with flaws and impossibilities, but give me your thoughts regardless.

I don't know if white people are more intelligent than the other races. But, white people make thread all over 4chan, saying shit and trolling all the time, invoking fake argument, these argument are respond by other white people who also use fake argument, and thread finishes in a pathetic piece of shit.
But, If white people are smarter than the other races, then how much stupid, can they be??????????

Somebody please clarify infinities for me.

If I have 1 red apple and infinite amount of green apples, that 1 red apple can be said to be infinitesimally small part of my whole apple collection.

However if we consider it this way: <span class="math">\lim_{x\to\infty}\frac{1}{x} = 0[/spoiler]
it would imply that I don't have a red apple.

What am I doing/thinking wrong?
