OK, so if in the slit experiment only one photon (a single light particle) is emitted, there will only be one point on the receptor equivalent to that particle. but if more than one photon is emitted, each behaves differently so that it 'lands' at a different point eventually building the 'stripes of light' -interference pattern. That is what leads us to wave 'theory' because there has to be an explanation for each particle behaving differently (ie particles are not identical in properties)
