I find it ridiculous when one of my friends bitches about "God not existing" I'm atheist myself but he keeps fucking bringing it up.

Then he asks what antimatter is made of, except he doesn't ask it like he's asking me, but that he's expecting me to say "no" and then for him to answer EVEN THOUGH WE'VE HAD THIS CONVERSATION A MILLION TIMES

Actually give me proof you shitheads that it FOR SURE exists.

>can't be recorded anyway at all
>can't be seen
>can't be heard
>can't be felt
>all ideas about it are more or less guesses
>no real evidence at all
>people believe in this shit but laugh at the religious

Could someone please explain different numeral systems to me? I'm afraid I'm retarded and I just don't get it. I'm talking about bases. For instance, I know that we use a Base 10 system, meaning we go up to the number ten and then start over again. Kinda

My friend was trying to explain to me an "octal numeral system" or something that he said was Base 8. He said that means a Base 8 system has no 8 or 9, and that 8 would be the equivalent to 10 because that's when you start over but I don't understand that at all.

Would that mean you go "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,80,81,82..."?

Please help. I'm dumb

So there's this one high school aged kid that I tutor and he's pretty salty right now. In short, he will be studying engineering in a couple months at San Jose State University, but most of his friends are going to more prestigious places -- UC Berkeley, UCLA, Cal Poly SLO, UC San Diego, etc. -- for shit like creative-writing/literature/history.

Anyways, this got me wondering: Would my student do better than his friends in the long run? In other words, would he be better off becoming an engineer at a state university than his friends who will be getting Berkeley degrees for history and literature? Note that he's a smart kid -- aced AP Calc BC, AP Comp Sci, and AP Physics C -- but he got a shitty GPA because he did fuck-all in his other classes.

Pic unrelated, though i suppose it somewhat describes how he feels right around now.

I dont think people understand why its frustrating for someone to call themselves a "DIY scientist"
Titles are usually earned, not just plopped on someone. Like in this situation.
She hasn't gone through hours of work or hours of excruciating pain from not understanding something. She hasn't published papers or have to bother with things that make no sense.
She's just some bitch who read 2 wikipedia articles.
She didn't work for the title, which is the issue.
Not only that but the kiki and bouba shit is obviously not related to synesthesia. Kiki has a sharp pronunciation, bouba sounds like a baby.

Holy shit stop trolling. Don't change the subject back and forth between work and energy and go look up the definition of work. I'm done.

First day of class

Taking Calc 3 and Linear Algebra in Berkeley

Linear Algebra is literally kiddie shit

"As for calc 3 you really don't need much from calc 2 except for polar coordinates and some simple integrals, I'm not going to have you do very hard equations"

I BUSTED MY FUCKING BALLS OPEN IN CALC 2.

EVERYONE DID. We all wasted our lives trying to solve trigonometric integrals. I was going to study sessions every week because my professor was a hardass and my class was full of methheads that never shut up. Now I'm taking "higher math" and my class is filled with literal high school seniors.

this shit actually rustles my jimmies so fucking much. At my university BSc students have to take a minimum of 4 approved "arts courses", and BA students have to take 2 "science" courses.

First of all, why do BA students only need to take two science electives when I need to take four of their shitty arts courses? Especially when you consider the ridiculous courses that count as "science electives" they have to chose from:

>"Introduction to Social Psychology" counts as science elective for BA students
>"The Psychology of Gender" counts as a science elective for BA students
>All "seminar courses" count as science electives for BA students, regardless of what the topic for that seminar course happens to be that semester. Even if the course topic is "Racial Themes in Modern Contemporary Film", still counts as a "science elective"
>"Wine and Scotch Tasting" counts as a science elective for BA students
>Wine-and-goddamn-fucking-scotch-tasting
>You literally sit there and drink wine, scotch, and beer all class, and then you get a science credit at the end of it.

If I have to sit through four fucking Liberal Arts courses writing essays about shit that I don't care about that contributes nothing to my education, the LEAST you could do is make the arts students have to pick their measly two electives from ACTUAL science/STEM courses. Either High school equivalent Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Algebra/Calculus. Hell, even a course on evolution or climate change would suffice. But don't make me sit here and watch BA students getting hammered in class for their "throwaway" credits, while forcing me to write essays for mine.

10/10 mad.
