Death is the worst thing that can happen to life, refuse to cope.

Your daily reminder that ageing is a disease. It weakens you, makes you more prone to sickness, it makes you ugly, makes you smell bad and also society will start discriminating you as a whole. Everything about it sucks and all the "golden years" cope around it is just that, fucking cope. This disease needs to be cured and should have precedence ever over fucking cancer. There's essentially two options for me to advance from where I am now. Go into management roles and/or increase my qualifications, so I can get higher level positions. I'd rather not go into pure management so PhD would be very favourable (a lot of CTOs/CSOs also have PhDs).
I also want to research deageing because I think it's a field that's starting to take off and it would be good to get in now. Also a lot of transferable skills vis-a-vis bionformatics/data science.

No. An end to ageing is not an end to death and there's nothing productive about a gradual physical and mental decline in the later years of life. Not to mention that treating the mechanisms of ageing would inherently treat all the top meme subjects of research (cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, dementia, metabolic diseases, infections etc) since they stem from the same problems.

I know Sinclair has a satellite lab here. Other than that USyd has an ageing research centre but I haven't seen much from them which indicates they're actually targeting treating it as a disease and not just doing research.
