Would be pretty cool if it was real.

Also, did scientists discover that there's multiple universes after all or something?

My friend was telling me about it, but he's not exactly bright so I thought I'd ask you guys.

http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2012/mitx-offers-prototype-course-0213.html

In December, MIT announced the launch of an online learning initiative called “MITx.” Starting this week, interested learners can now enroll for free in the initiative’s prototype course — 6.002x: Circuits and Electronics.

At the end of the prototype course, students who demonstrate their mastery will be able to receive a certificate of completion for free. In future MITx courses, students who complete the mastery requirement on MITx will be able to receive the credential for a modest fee.

[spoiler]I grew up poor in an abusive household. I have blocked most of my past out. In fact, I destroyed all pictures, report cards, etc to not have to stumble across them later. In school I was disliked by peer, and instructor alike. When it came to studies, I would purposely slack off to curry some attention. However, I read, and tested off the charts. My teachers were disappointed that I was wasting my intellect, and I hated them for even noticing.

At eighteen I began to work in the HVAC industry, and acquired enough capital to leave home. Since then I don't use my childhood name, nor communicate with family.

Now as an adult I've returned to school and have blossomed. I have a couple good friends that can operate at my level. I've even gained a mentor in my calculus instructor. The future is blindingly bright for me now, and I intend to make up for the darkness in my "previous life".</spoiler>

Gamma Ray Bursts are the single highest energy events in the universe.
For one to occur within about 200 million light years aimed directly at us, when the energy reaches us, the planet at large would not stand a chance.

As far as I know there are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation stars, the 2nd and 3rd having more massive elements composing them, due to the fact that the solar system went nova in the past and forged heavier elements in turn creating a star with more density. In a binary system I do not think its possible for one star to go nova and the other not, therefore their density should be very similar.

As for mass, no, they do not have to be the same, one of the stars could almost act like a planet to the other, if you will. The wavelength of a star is directly related to elemental composition. Fun fact: SETI looks for stars with weird wavelengths in the hopes of finding something that could not be produced naturally.
