A physicist, an engineer, and a statistician are drafted into a war (the war is going really badly for their country at this point).

They're sent to the front lines. One day they end up getting pinned down by enemy fire. Their battalion wants to disperse the enemy using a mortar, but it's not working properly.

The physicist jump up and says "don't worry -- I've got this under control." He does some quick mental calculations, tinkers a bit with the mortar, and, satisfied it will work properly, announces that he's fixed it.

They load a shell and fire it. It lands 200 yards short of the enemy position.

"You idiot," the engineer says. "You assumed ideal conditions. Typical. Here, let ME fix it."

So the engineer does his own mental calculations, tinkers with the mortar himself, and once he thinks it's in working order, announces that it's fixed.

They load a shell once again and fire it off. It lands 200 yards past the enemy position.

"WE GOT EM!" the statistician yells.

I decided to kill someone with air injection, but figured it takes time for the victim to die and I might not be able to flee.
So I decided to kill with a tip-full of poison. I just pinch the guy, and he dies. I get away with it easily.
