But the quarks existed before hydrogen atoms did.

Also i believe on a universal scale we serve no purpose, we are just parasites that evolved out of nothing to be a rash on the earth. We have infected our planet and are raping the shit out of it, and once used up we will expand to other planets and drain the shit out of them too.

So why does it matter that some students are taught creationism and not evolution in schools?

Who cares?

I dream of extending the human life a couple of hundreds of years to see where all that goes, but there are several ways to do that, and they all are so friggin different and conflicting each other.

This is how i think: either the universe came into existence 14 billion years ago and nothing existed prior to this, or there was something before this and the universe has existed for an infinite amount of time.
Both of these possibilities scare me, how can something not have a beginning? But i cant wrap my head around the idea of a beginning without something causing it.
I dont believe in any gods but even if any of them were real, where did they come from and what was before them? It doesnt help answer any questions.

After colonizing another planet, we find the first half of the species believed the universe was started by a giant fucking explosion out of nothing and time started.
The other half believes in a God whom created it

What do you say of this species?

I have a very silly question.

What shape is the Universe?
I mean is it finite? Is it spherical? What do we know about the shape of the Universe?

I'll try and keep it simple.

In theory time travel is possible.
The universe is vast and in theory there is probably a more advanced race out there to us, if they had developed the ability of time travel and used it to bring knowledge to their past, furthering their intelligence more, don't you think we would know about it?

They'd be freaking everywhere.

Epiphany alert!

Matter and antimatter still exist in equal amounts.
Matter responds to (creates?) gravity which pulls the matter together.
Antimatter responds to (again creates? I dunno) anti-gravity which repels, hence "dark matter" read: antimatter, has been pushing itself apart and ultimately accelerating the expansion of the universe!

By the same token, matter and antimatter rarely come into contact and annihilate anymore now that the universe has sufficiently expanded!

1. How do I convince him otherwise?
2. What arguments should I expect from him?

Dear /sci/

Don't you ever get depressed over the fact that the universe will expand indefinitely and all that will remain will be a sea of electrons and a bunch of super massive black holes?.

I mean, all we do is pretty pointless.

Just look at the incommensurable extension of the universe.

Why do we even bother?
