I think this should be a thing on /sci/ more often.

First question, I understand the derivation of compressible flow equations from first principles, and I understand that density/pressure/area relationships are different above and below M=1.

HOWEVER, no one has given me a physically intuitive reason for why.

The past two books I've gotten have been shit (Moran and Borgnakke), and googling it has turned up shit.
