Have you ever thought about how this universe and the fact that we exist do not make any kind of sense. There are two possibilities, at least intuitively, for the universe. One, that the universe has always existed or two, that the universe came out of nothing. Both of these defy all conventional logic. If the universe is infinite then we could have never arrived at this point in time because an infinite amount of time would have had to pass to arrive here(now). If the universe arose out of nothingness (I don't mean the big bang, but the "stuff" itself that "banged" and became the universe) then what did it arise or expand into. Wouldn't the empty nothingness have to be considered something itself, bringing back the problems of infinity? Shit, basically my mind is fucking blown every time I start thinking about this, which I do fairly often. I think it shows there is something fundamental about the existence that we just don't understand and probably never will. Just my unscientific ramblings, correct me on anything fundamental that I have wrong.

Sagan become Ph. D. at 25 or something. Just that makes him more successful than most people here, me including.

I'm sure he contributed to science but it's also obvious he won't hold his own against Keppler, Euler, Leibnitz, Newton, Maxwell, Einstein or Planck. At the end not everyone will make breakthroughs. However it's thanks to people like Sagan who gave most of their life to science we are here, slowly exploring the cosmic ocean. He was awesome and we need more people like him.

Religion in this context refers to nature, not the christian god or whatever god you're thinking of.

Scientists tend to do that because theyre master trolls.

Quite the opposite, it was they who got in the way of Pythagoras and suppressed knowledge. Haven't you been listening to Carl?
