Well, it's a step up from 'dust-everywhere' Mars.

>>4020100
Smacking Phobos into one of Mars' polar caps was an idea i held until quite recently. I don't think we could start volcanism without smacking something that would ruin most of the planet's allure for terraforming.

Nah you're sort of right, it's the heat of the ejecta from the impact site falling back from space into the Martian atmosphere that produces most of the heat. And that's exactly why a thicker atmosphere of 150 millibars would be desirable.

It's a picture of an entire planet. You think a 8 meter wide lonsdaleite thread cable is going to show up on it?

Don't mess with my Mars base funding; I'll get Phobos to crush your balls.

Then there are two other solutions:
- Seed it with a slow self-replicating nanobot that's only job is to separate some oxygen from the soil, as well as being a very dark colour to decrease Mars' albedo even further.

- Smack Phobos into it.

/sci/, I am moving houses in the next couple of days. Please recommend me some books to read on physics as I wish to try and calculate what would happen if we crashed Phobos on Mars, Roughly, of course.

You're assuming that Mars is exactly like all other plants. Mars sort of already has everything we need, minus a thick oxygen atmosphere and a planetary magnetic field.

I THINK YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS
