There once was a Neptune orbiter mission in the works:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neptune_Orbiter

And even older mission:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariner_Mark_II

Of course both were cancelled. No money.

>Linear Algebra final
>Diagonalization problem
>find Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors for A no problem
>eigenvectors as columns form P
>need P^-1
>Literally waste an hour trying to find P^-1 from P via elementary matrix multiplication
>Nothing is working
>Finally give up
>Mention it to professor in disappointed bafflement
>"P is orthogonal, the inverse is just the tranpose"

fuck everything

Finals commiseration thread?

You fucking idiot, the moon's gravitational pull on Earth is negligible. Also you're being an enormous autistic asshole for taking typos in the pic at face value.

>The diagram doesn't make sense. If the center of the moon were 100m from the Earth's surface, then they would already be touching.
AT LAST A CORRECT STATEMENT

>If you mean the measurement is from the surfaces of the apple and moon, then the apple would touch first because the acceleration on the center of the moon is less than on the center of the apple being farther away.
Dumbass, acceleration is always g in Earth's vicinity.

>This would have to ignore tidal effects and assume that loose pieces of the moon wouldn't just fall off towards the Earth. But assuming that the moon and apple keep their shape, the apple touches first.
Since the whole process would take a few seconds at most, taking ridiculously negligible effects is useless at best. What's next, taking tunnel effect into account?

>>4897491
He's not. Dumbass.

>>4897494
But then that's retarded. An apple doesn't take hours to fall. Do you even think?

>>4897497
Babby's first newtonian mechanics, Earth weighs much more than the moon so any reciprocal gravitational pull can be neglected.

No, they don't. Statistically, they are smarter that you. And their kids would be smarter again.
Face it, your generation is not a fucking peak in human development.

Ok does anyone have any idea why this shit doesn't work on windows 7? Try reinstalling, changing the compatibility settings and everything but it shuts down as soon as I come to the section where you choose which of the following atlases (human brain, developing mouse brain) you want to install.

scholarship hunting is pretty much a joke. my parents are high-income, so that dq's me for 98% of scholarships and work-study. I'm not bi-racial, minority, gay, native-american, don't have aids/cancer, am not an amputee, not a veteran, etc, so that dqs me from a remaining 1.5%.
for the others, I'm not willing to spend 40 hours working on a scholarship for $250. (or a 1/5 chance at $2500) its just not worth it.
Most the money comes from my parents (and do they whine about it), and I contribute what I make from my minimum-wage jobs. I'd do student loans if I didn't have this.
If I worked full time i'd only make $14k a year, that's not even enough for a full year of school :/

well sure.

it's just your asking how to build a space shuttle from the ground up and acting like it'll only take the weekend to learn it all
