>Unable to send probe into a Venus encounter because the cryo upper stage is not re-ignitable
WTF? This is long march 5B-tier. It is not even old-space capable (Saturn IV-B was reignitable 60 years ago despite being hydrolox).

Why are frog rockets so shit? Will version 6 be 1990s tier as well?

I was a space nerd as a little kid and I remember how all of those “Earth and Science” books would have a few sections on space, but all of them - ALL OF THEM - would have an Ariane 5 as the example of “a space rocket.”

Wtf?

If you could send a space probe anywhere in the solar system where would it be?

>For me it would be a lander that touches down at the lunar South Pole.
>It’s powered by an RTG, and used the excess heat to warm up a large inverted bowl that is deployed to the surface
>The warming up of this bowl sublimates volatiles in the soil
>The spacecraft collects the water vapor and electrolytes it to make separated oxygen and hydrogen
>Lastly, containers with Lunar—made hydrolox supercool the gases until they turn into liquid.
>Doesn’t have to be large samples, just a kilogram of Hydrolox in total to help demo future lunar ISRU
>Doesn’t have to be a large mission either. RTG can be very small, just needs to be able to warm up the soil

I’m going into college this August. I’m doing Pre-Med because I want to be a doctor. Moreso it’s so I can acquire funding for my space travel ambitions.

Jesus I thought they named it “Retard” for a second

Nuclear bombs or reactors won’t fly for a while. Not saying they won’t ever, but not for a while. Too much red tape.
