Why does it matter where eastern philosophy comes from? It's like an engineer said "using this theory will improve our design to the point where we can make cold fusion a reality and become multi-billionaires overnight beloved by all but we're not going to use it because it was developed by a black guy".

How do you defeat the Dunning-Kruger effect?

Countless times in general talks with people and on the internets I have been met with sudden and blatant hate, I often find myself wondering what I've done that is so terribly wrong because I never expressed any emotion or used any swear words or bigotry yet the person who decided to shun me never offers an explanation when repeatedly asked in a calm logical manner. At first these experiences caused my brain to release cortisol and make me feel bad but eventually I manned up and realized if they can't even explain why I'm wrong it's entirely feasible that they were wrong and I need to stop being a pussy and have more confidence in my ability to reason.

Still, because these people are unwilling to discuss the reasons behind their little emotional fit it always leaves a mystery as to what was going on in their heads and it bugs me.

What do?

No.

It's pretty easy to not induce an emotional reaction in someone or make it obvious someone is a troll just by speaking logically with clear step by step statements, the biggest problem is the dunning kruger effect, when people literally do not have the intelligence to understand their error, or at least there is no way to teach them within a practical period of time.

I'm convinced anyone with a neo-cortex can understand anything, the only problems are with communication and a real sign of intelligence is your ability to apply ockham's razor, break down a concept to the logical steps needed to understand it then translate it into the lingo of whoever you are speaking to.

Ironically you think no thought is required because you didn't do any thinking yourself and don't understand the argument.

This is how science progresses, it's wrong because it contradicts established doctrine. I should have known better, thanks.

Like I said, you've been so thoroughly indoctrinated the idea that something you believe is wrong is rejected instantly.

There is a fine line between educating someone and pretending you are superior to them with a load of retarded illogical fallacies or just plain ignorance on your part. Well actually there isn't a fine line, I was just using that as a figure of speech to distinguish between the 2. Unless someone has been indoctrinated to get all emotional about an issue it's usually blatantly obvious who is being irrational and who isn't.

You have to accept that people might think you're a nazi and properly define what exactly you mean by eugenics.

lol

Everything you said is just an opinion as well. It just so happens that my opinion is the most accurate representation of reality, if not because of any particular merit on my part then because your shit just isn't logical.

Deal with it.

>Yet Einstein himself vigorously denied their reality, believing, as did most of his contemporaries, that black holes were a mere mathematical curiosity. He died in 1955, before the term "black hole" was coined or understood and observational evidence for black holes began to mount.

>I don't have a counter-argument
I accept your admission of defeat and apology. No need to thank me.

So it's concluded, music theory requires you to introspect and analyze your emotions which in turn helps you develop your ability to conduct abstract reasoning.

How many times do I have to see people do this on /sci/?

If you think someone's wrong but can't back it up that probably means it's you who's wrong. Either provide an explanation or shut up.
