It’s interesting to see how the Soviets planned on upgrading the N1. The N1F saw improved NK-33 engines on the first and second stage. Then they planned to swap the third stage for the Hydrolox NK-43 engine. Then they’d eventually use nuclear engines on the third stage.

Honestly would a non-shit N1 be better then? The whole “dude Korolev lived!” Thing is almost cliche but at least the N1 wasn’t toxic.
UR-700 or N1 doesn’t matter, I’m just trying to find a reasonable justification for the USSR and America to continue on the moon and maybe mars.

Would the N1 working actually have kicked Apollo into high gear? Or would the US just roll their eyes and move on with the shuttle?
