The human brain is a massively parallel machine with a lot of redundancy.

This is the reason people have been able to live with large parts of their brain removed, albeit some have experienced personality shifts and other changes.

While we don't have processors capable of taking over the functions of braincells yet, we have made some rudimentary advances in mind-machine-interfacing in the last decade.
