Part 1 of speculation

The idea of a soul evolved over time, along with religion.

Perhaps it's origins were that a caveman was thinking about a dead animal that he had seen earlier. Perhaps he then wondered what it's like to be dead. Perhaps he tried to think about what it was like to be dead but was unable, and for one reason or another concluded it was not possible to really be dead. Which rose the question to him, how is that animal still alive ? And the conclusion which he arrived at was that there was some sort of immaterial thing which had left the animal. (the soul).

Whatever the origins of the idea of the soul may be, after the idea of the soul had been conceived it then evolved over time.

The man told his friends about his new idea. As far as he knew, he had made a discovery. He truly believed that his idea was real. Obviously he was mistaken. The reason why he had been lead to believe something which was not true was because of errors in his reasoning, and logical fallacies. He jumped to conclusions.
