Let's say that we're doing a re-crystallisation process.
During this, we need to solve our compound in water, although our compoun is insoluble in water while in room temp, it becomes soluble while water is heated near boiling point.
After that part, we just have to filter this shit using a piece of paper, yet we cannot be sure if there are any impurities in the compound, so we need to add activated carbon or some shit, but where I'm not so sure is, at which stage we add this to our solution.
Is it during, or after?
I mean, if we add it to the solution while we're filtering it, it'd be stuck with the same crystals we want to get our hands on, and doing it after the filtration wouldn't have much of an effect.
Doing it before the crystallisation would result in the same effect.
The reason I'm asking this, is that I have a lab exam tomorrow, and I'm trying to remember at which stage we added the carbon to the system.
The carbon product is charcoal btw.
