Why do you want to help other people? to make YOU feel less guilty about being in a good position. Its still about what YOU want, not about other people. YOU will still be the one choosing how to shape the poor peoples lives, someone mentioned starting an Engineers Without Borders, why? who the fuck is he to shove engineering on other people, its about him wanting to spread engineering.

the only complete way to be selfless is to kill yourself, freeing up resources for the rest of the people on earth. "But I can help people more if im alive!". No, unless you are literally one of the best in your field, killing yourself will allow someone else to take your place.

Now im not saying not to help other people, I am massively privileged, im 24 and im already making 20 times the national average income, im literally in the 1% of my country (South Africa), I got here thanks to my ancestors oppressing the shit out of the indigenous people, but I don't spend my time worrying about something i had, and have, no control over. I spend it making the place better in a way that I see fit. I give money to fix schools because I see education as important, I am basically a god forming the land and people however I want. The net effect is positive, the people around me benefit from it, and that makes me feel important and powerful, thats why I do it, not because of guilt.

As long as there are 2 people on earth, one will be more privileged than another in some way.

It seems like you are lacking a passion in life and you are trying to make helping others fill that gap, there's nothing wrong with it, as I said its a great feeling. But please dont pretend that its not about making you feel good, and that its somehow a more nobler passion that becoming a chess and bridge expert.
