It's common.
But not easy to purify.
Lithium ore requires multiple energy and chemical intense steps to get the pure lithium out.
Same for mercury.
Same for most "rare" earths.
It's not that they are rare, but rarely pure and easily extractable.

Lithium can be found in forms of granite.
Or pyroxenes.
For example spodumene.
