no the symptoms of Hashimoto's do not completely vanish. A portion of my thyroid has been destroyed and I'll need to supplement my body's output for the rest of my life unless I'm lucky enough to have it regenerate which seems astonishingly rare. What has stopped is the destruction of it and the decreases in my thyroid's output.

in this case the "disease" is an unknown bacteria living in my gut that triggers the autoimmune malfunction.
there was a paper a year or so ago on uveitis that clued me in to the possibility.
