How do you guys feel about people like Niel Degrass Tyson and Michio Kaku? Are they considered smart among scientist or are they just people who know the basics and seem like geniuses to idiots like me?

Is this man overrated?
Does he deserve to be compared to Carl Sagan?

My little sis just started high school. She's a bright kid, and loves to study science. However, she's going to a new christian school now, since it's one of the better local schools. She decided on her own that she has no problems with the bible but it isn't for her in her previous school, also christian.

However, in her new science class, her teacher is a massive christfag. Denouncing modern science, basically saying that the bible is all the science anyone will ever need. I ask you /sci/, have you ever been in a similar situation? What could be done here? I'm pretty sure the teacher is an angry hambeast, so a physical confrontation will not likely work.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is like 100 times as inspiring as Kaku will ever be.
