If spacetime curves to an absolute extreme near a black hole, making events seem to slow down to external observers, how the fuck does anything actually happen? Where lies the difference between "seems to slow to total stillness" and "actually slows to total stillness"?

If things are happening "slowly" (i.e. from my point of reference) then how does anything "happen" - from my point of reference, or really any non-singularity point of reference - near a black hole? Ever?

How can we speak of matter interacting with a black hole, stars falling into them, etc., if that activity is effectively taking infinity bazillion years to occur from the perspective of everywhere that isn't a black hole?

Non-/sci/ fag here, sorry if I'm a total retard. I have googled/wiki'd but the answer is eluding me somehow.

Something might or not happen. So both it happened and didn't. The cat is half dead.

It's hard to put this in my mind. How does it apply to the particles involved? I want to understand the quantum phenomenon.
