All of this is very true, but let's not forget that we are seeing Galileo-type shit right before our eyes (see >>12379845). That's more than just "telling you things that piss you off and you morally disagree with", this is inquisition level stuff, minus the torture (for now). During the 50's and 60's there was a high level of trust in science and in the "system". Then after these "Sigmund Fred types" got hold of academia we have seen bullshit piling up on bullshit. So the average person has lost faith in the "system" and, as you correctly said, starts "lumping it all together".
For example this is a list of "correct" (expert) opinions to hold:
- the disfunction of Africans is due to white racism/slavery/colonialism
- global warming is real
- vaccines don't cause autism
- gender is a social construct

Only half of these are true, but the thinking process of the average right wing / Alex Jones type goes like this: "Wait, he is bullshitting me on Africans and gender, he sure is bullshitting me on global warming and vaccines! Chemtrails are real! 5G causes cancer! And..."
So we are in this rather absurd situation where both the experts (backed by the left) and the conspiracy types (stereotypically on the right) are wrong, and the few remaining discerning people have nowhere to go.

tl.dr. Science has become a tool of leftist propaganda and people on the right don't trust it anymore and will start to believe the most inane things if they suit their worldview.
