> Why do people always say that alien microbes might kill humans? Or human microbes might kill aliens?
Because it is possible.
If you don't know the definition of the word "might", GIB. (Google it, bitch.)

> What are the chances that an alien microbe can infect a human?
0 <= P <= 1.

HOLD THE FUCK UP ONE MINUTE HOLD UP, HOLD UP.

Isn't everything were saying also backing up religion in the fact it seems very likely that the universe has a creator?

>watching news
>news id saying about being able to see a super novae tonight
>news says to make sure not to miss it as it only happens every 4000 years
>facebook lights up with "zomg guys we gots to see this only happens once every 4000 years"

How the flying fuck does that even make any sense.

Anyway stupid shit/funny shit science related general.

Dark matter

isn't it more likely that general relativity is just wrong? just like newtown's equations are accurate up to a point, ya know?

ok sci, wtf... seriously...

Just started learning about Acid dissociation constant, Ka. They say that Ka is a measure of the strength of an acid... Gotcha... BUT WAIT!

If Ka = [H][A] / [HA], then it depends on the MOLARITY I'm testing does it not?

Lets say I have an acid, 50% of which dissosociates. If I test 6M of this acid. In the end I'll have:

[HA] = 3
[H] = 3
[A] = 3

Ka = [3] / [3] *[3] = 3

K, awesome....

Now lets say I take the SAME acid but instead of testing 6M I test 10M this time. What do I end up with?:

[HA] = 5
[H] = 5
[A] = 5

Ka = [5] / [5] * [5] = 5

WTF sci? In both cases 50% of the acid dissosociates!! Shouldn't the Ka be THE SAME? Is Ka dependant on the molarity of the acid you're testing? I thought it was a constant describing the dissasociation, in which case molarity shouldn't matter.... Fuckin chemistry, how does it work?

Doing a test, I think this question is impossible, am I wrong? I was using a venn diagram and the "overlap" totals of each thing exceed the overall total. I do not need the answer, just tell me if it's impossible like I think it is.

In a survey of 6500 people, 5100 had a car, 2280 had a pet, 5420 had a television set, 4800 had a TV and a car, 1500 had a TV and a pet, 1250 had a car and a pet, and 1100 had a TV, a car, and a pet. Use a Venn diagram to help determine how many people did not have a pet or a TV or a car?
