a) at time t=0 the point at x=0 has a velocity of 0 and a positive displacement. The phase constant, ?, is:

b) at time t=0 the point at x=0 has a velocity of Vo and a displacement Yo. The phase constant is given by tan?:

It is believed that about 250 million years ago, all of the continents were once joined together as a supercontinent, known as Pangea. Plate tectonics is the theory explaining geologic changes that result from the movement of lithospheric plates over the asthenosphere. In other words, the theory states that Earth's outermost layer, the lithosphere, is broken into 7 large, rigid pieces called plates: the African, North American, South American, Eurasian, Australian, Antarctic, and Pacific Plates. Lithospheric plates are the plates that comprise the fractured surface of the earth. There are two types of lithospheric plates: continental plates, made mostly up of granitic-type rock(Igneous rock), and oceanic plates, comprised mostly of basaltic-type(Igneous rock) rocks. Asthenosphere is a layer in the Earth's mantle, beneath the lithosphere. The plates are all moving in different directions and at different speeds.
