Weird, American whites outscore American Asians on any achievement test subtest, maybe the populations tested weren't nationally representative.

Or perhaps the influx of wealthy Indian immigrants is skewing the data from representing "East Asians". They make up around 20% of the Asian population and have IQ's way above average.

Why have East-Asian achievement scores improved relatively drastically in a period of less than a decade?

I was under the impression that in at least reading comprehension, schooling would produce negligible effect after first few years of learning. I say this because it isn't a trait that is directly taught, I viewed it as something more akin to a mix of verbal reasoning and working memory. Nonetheless, Asian countries
have improved highly in relative performance in a short time.

It also doesn't correlate with much statistical data showing those of European descent to have higher verbal IQ's (on WAIS) than the American East-Asian, Japanese, and Chinese populations. The difference is around 3 or 4 points. Though, until recently international achievement test performance did correlate with these readings. To avoid confusion, East Asians score much higher than whites on the perceptual reasoning portion of WAIS (around 106-110), with large strengths in block design and picture completion, but not as strong strengths in areas of more general abstract reasoning.

I believe the American Asian scores improving may be well explained by recent and extreme immigration of the Indian intellectual elite into our country (the "brain drain" effect). Reverse digit spam yields an IQ of 112 in this population.
