Is there *any* field of research that doesn't involve the use of statistics and general mathematical analysis?

Hey /sci/

I've been sitting at my computer for the past 3 hours trying to type a cover letter explaining why an awards council should give me a research award grant for a summer lab job even though I have no previous experience, no awards and a mediocre-low GPA.
What can I write in my cover letter that will get them to even consider me with all these handicaps? Like I subscribe to a bunch of scienceblog.com blogs and read random papers and listen to Nobel speeches from time to time and I'm interested in trying to get a research job so I can see if it's the right thing for me but I feel like I'm never going to be qualified enough to ever land an RA job.

What do?
