There is so much knowledge to acquire. It takes my breath away and overwhelms me. I become depressed when I think about how much little time I have to learn it all. I feel saddened to know I will not be able to understand everything.

Hello /sci/, I'd like some information.

I know threads like this can be insufferable, but do any of you have any insight on the current US job market for electrical engineering? Is it over saturated?

If so, could you provide sources or elaborate on
why you think it is or isn't a good job market.

Thank you.

I need some good books to read, any good classic books, foreign literature and sciencey books, what do you recommend?

Do you think we will at some point collect so much information that it's impossible to overlook it all and we simply start "forgetting" stuff as it gets stuck in some archive that nobody remembers existed.

It got pretty heated in one section of my universities library today.

Basically, some kid mentioned that everything he's learned thus far he could have learned in his home town by taking out various books & textbooks and teaching himself, so long as he stays focused. Some agreed, some disagreed.

Another kid argued that without the help of a guide, such as a professor, & lectures, as well as study groups, you "most definitely are NOT learning as much as you would be if you simply took out books from your public library." Some agreed, some disagreed.

It got to the point where it the issue was very much so divided halfway & students started yelling their argument for why such & such is so.

So, now I'm asking you. Do you think it is possible to have learned everything you've learned from your college education on a $1.50 library card?

tl;dr - $1.50 library card = $30,000 college tuition?

Hi /sci/. I am back in education after an absence due to a bad accident that hospitalized me for months. I haven't been in full time education for over a year and now when I read books and try to study I find it really hard to remember the stuff I have read/revised. I also find it hard to motivate myself to do the work, this feeling is compounded by the aforementioned difficulty in remembering the material.
TL:DR Can academic ability be reduced due to lack of using your brain in an academic fashion, and can you do anything to help yourself get back to the level of ability you had before.
And no, I didn't receive any head trauma in the accident.
