was going to go to /diy/ with this but thought /sci/ might have some answers quicker, I know a bit about this but not having a degree in any related science my knowledge is limited mostly to my own deductions-
So basically I had an abscess on a molar tooth two years ago, after a course of antibiotics (amoxicillin I think) the tooth was pulled and I drained it. Now two years down the line it looks like it is coming back on the outer gum next to the next molar. I've heard abcesses will often come back eyar after year and my teeth aren't very resistant to the elements, almost certainly due to genetics. My abscess/infection is similar in pain to a mouth ulcer but the area in which it is and the fact that the gum looks possibly inflamed around it leads me to think t s the ulcer reoccurring.

TD;LR So basically I'm wondering two things:
1) How can I treat the current infection without going to the doctor or dentist and having more teeth destroyed and courses of the same antibiotics?
2) What can I do to prevent this recurring apart from general oral hygiene?

Symptoms overview: I've had no puss and no discoloration apart from a slight whiting to the small area of the gum where it hurts as of yet and I have a small ache near the inside of my massetuer bone which I believe to be a swollen gland due to infection and not the infection itself

A doctor treats people in 23 minutes on average, with a standard deviation of 4 minutes. You have an appointment at 10AM, you know that the surgery opens at 9AM and he has three appointments before yours. What are is the chance he isn't running late by the time of your appointment?
