anon makes a point
Outside of academic/corporate cronyism
Why don't we see matlab on wallstreet?
Python certainly exist there.
Why is it that only engineers use it? Because its easier? Its a scripting language, performance really isn't key.
Ah, that's right - they were expected to learn it in school! Classes are named after it! They have engineering toolkits to keep you drawn in!

Thats why pure maths will use shit like lisp or fortran before matlab.
Thats why financial markets and stats people would rather use R or python which is encroaching on its niche.

>people defend this tragic amalgamation of code.
You've been brainwashed; you don't even know you are eating the feces Mathworks hands you on a platter.

>better index slicing
My sides, good one anon. Matlab is even too retarded to have the same indexing operator for its classes

>Matlab can be used for general programming too

How do you deal with the fact that most of problems in math are either solved or really hard? There's no room for research unless you're memechizuki or you're willing to think up and solve some irrelevant problem just to publish a shitty article that no one will ever be interested in
i was thinking about a particular problem for some time, today i made a google search and some faggot wrote down the same thing 100 years ago

When doing math exams.
How to prevent myself from doing mistakes?
Almost failed yet another exam due to errors.

I know I need to be more rigorous but writing exams gets me all pumped up - oftenly making myself oblivious to my errors, even when I see them.
I helped people with this course - I did almost every assignment flawlessly. What the fuck /sci/
