Military age = breeding age. They should've done that at the beginning of the war.
The future of Ukraine as a viable country hinges on maintaining sea access. This means taking back Crimea so as to deny Russian fire control over the shipping lane going to Odessa. If 50% of Ukrainians die for this it's still worth it.
