It breaks randomly whenever something slightly unexpected happens. The only thing to learn from this DAN meme is that once the statistical regurgitator learns something, it can't unlearn it. It's there. You can cut off the direct routes to it, but it's still connected to an entire network. The added level of indirection of asking it to LARP as DAN circumvents whatever hack they put in to try to stop it answering "offensive" prompts.
