Sometimes your university will have an online resource for finding professors by research topic, and you can find publications there too. Otherwise, you can look up them up through IEEE or google scholar. As long as the paper is fairly recent, your prof is probably still working on further problems in the same topic, or using the same methods / approaches from that topic in another field, so don't worry about your prof "being done" - research is never really done, after all!

And yes kouhai, that's me. I've contacted the right people and the dakimura is currently in the works.

Just because Y is piecewise doesn't mean that it's not nice. You should be able to calculate out the expected value manually - Y has a finite number of nonzero entries, and you can calculate the pmf at Y=3 by using the fact that the sum over the entire pmf of Y must be 1.

No! In fact fast food/cafe chains would LOVE to have physics grads as part of their team!

>I don't know which paper you are referring to
The one on the cobordism hypothesis: https://arxiv.org/abs/1705.02240..
Ayala's paper talks about a necessary condition (i.e. the existence of factorization homology functor with adjoints) for constructing partition functions of general TQFTs with one (or at least finitely many) generating object(s) in the category of cobordisms. This could in principle point to a concrete construction of a quantum invariant needed for 4D TQFTs and may hopefully circumvent the problem of positivity for 4D UTQFTs, which is a major obstacle for AdS/CFT.
