Anyone familiar with numerical algorithms for nonlinear optimization? Basically I've got a system of nonlinear equations and a cost function; I know there are multiple solutions to the equation (within some bounded region of solution space; let's assume I know what this region is), and I want to find the one which minimizes the cost function. Or at least find a pretty good one within a reasonable amount of time, even if it's not the global minimum. Any tips on what sort of algorithms to look into doing this?

Consider a graph with [math]n[/math] vertices. Suppose we are guaranteed a particular structure of the edges: the maximal clique size is [math]d[/math], and furthermore there are [math]k[/math] unique maximal cliques in the graph. I want to cover the graph with as few such cliques as a polytime algorithm will allow me.

I know that the minimal clique cover is NP-complete and has a good number of heuristics for approximately solving. However, so far none of them work well enough for my purposes. I was wondering if there are any algorithms which can take advantage of additional known structure in the graph, like what I described above.

>Is X a meme major?
Unless it is Biomedical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering your major XE major is not a “meme”. Additional meme majors include chemical and nuclear engineers. They are challenging degrees but there are just not enough jobs to keep up with graduating students. Many bitter anons in these threads are ChemE students or unemployed ChemE graduates.

>Why is Mechatronics or Bio Engineering a meme degree?
They are often very shallow degrees at the undergraduate level. Students end up becoming a master of none and are outclassed by the more common disciplines. For the longest period of time these courses were only Master/PHD opportunities. A good undergraduate program is very rare for either discipline. Your meme state school isn’t one of those programs.

>I can’t find a job
What is your GPA? What is your experience? Is your resume shit? Do you interview well? When did you start looking?
>GPA
A GPA of 3.0 is the bare minimum for most companies.
>Experience
Experience is helpful but is not needed to get a job. You will have a much tougher time though and will need to grind out applications. College clubs and personal projects are good ways to get at least some experience if it is not professional experience.
>Resume
Post your resume if you want it to be reviewed. Try and quantify actions at your job, don’t just list your responsibilities. If you have no professional experience emphasize your school projects/clubs/personal projects.
>Interviewing
It helps to practice and write down your answers to question that you think you will be asked. Using Glassdoors can be helpful when trying to figure out what kind of questions specific companies ask.
>Candidate
You don’t need to be a 3.9 GPA, 3 internship, non white student to get a job in Engineering. Just keep in mind Apple/Boeing/Broadcom/Google/Intel/etc, don’t generally hire <3.0 GPA no experience autists that are incapable of talking to other human beings.

You will make it!

One day I will sit down and finish writing an op so we can avoid all the "how do I get internship/job/etc" and "is XE a meme?" questions.

What are you currently working on or studying at work/school or for your personal hobby?

Hope the job hunt/school/work went well today.

Why do you say this? Literally every one of my friends/family that has done CS are working really comfy programming jobs making around $70k-$100k. Inb4 "code monkey" or "wage cuck". Hell call it whatever you like, it's better than busting you're ass in school just to land an underpaid engineering job where you work long hours doing tedious as fuck work.

Sure thing anon.

>Summary
Get rid of it. It is just fluff. I want to see more important stuff on your resume. I don't need you to tell me you are highly motivated or have a strong set of fundamental engineering skills. Show it to me through your resume don't tell me about it.

>Education
Don't listen to >>9848324
Keep your GPA on anything greater than a 3.0 is worth bragging about. If I don't see a GPA listed I assume it is under a 3.0. The only sticklers above 3.0 are some defense companies (Northrop Grumman) and some engineering firms (Booz Allen Hamilton).

>Skills
A bit wordy but fine

>Work Experience
Truck driver or pizza boy I don't want to see it unless you can quantify it. That is a lot of white space you are filling up with nothing. Keep maybe the most recent one to show you have worked other jobs.

Quantify and list out accomplishments for your machine operator job. Don't just list out job responsibilities.

>Change WORK EXPERIENCE to EXPERIENCE
I want to see your engineering projects. Remember those freshman/sophomore/etc projects and your senior design? I want those on here. Describe what you did, how you did it, etc. Describe the skills you used to accomplish your projects

>Clubs/Extracirculars
Were you part of any engineering clubs? Any college clubs at all that have transferable skills? Are you a member of ASME? How long?
