A sphere is 2-dimensional? A 3-sphere, a hypersphere exists in four dimensions, then is a ball a "sphere" in 3-space?

On another topic does it make sense to talk about volume in higher dimensions? Or only with qualifiers such as we call 2d "volume" area.
