Why are UFOs considered paranormal? If you read USAF reports on the phenomenon in the 1940s to the 1960s all the craft witnessed are credible.

"cigar shaped", "crescent shaped", "flames shooting out of the back". C'mon how is this "paranormal"? All the reports scream "jet powered flying wing or missile". No anti-gravity shapeshifting anal probing woo, that seems to be folklore built up later. Also some of these things were also tracked on radar.

So UFOs are 100% real, not people seeing things. The real question is what were they? There's 3 explanations:

Russian spy craft - explains why Americans see them so much but since the Soviet Union broke up no evidence of them using saucers to spy on the West has ever surfaced. Also the whole point of spy craft is to be unseen, why would you fly a bright silver thing at low altitude?

US black projects: USA "coincidentally" came out with flying wing aircraft and lifting body spaceplanes in the late 80s and 90s, were these 1950s sightings tests of captured Nazi flying wing (Horten) and lifting body spacecraft (Silbervogel) tech that eventually became the B-2 and space shuttle? But why were they recklessly flying these things near civillians

Aliens: No proof it's aliens but it's definitely aliens. Here's my theory. An antimatter star cruiser happened to be near our star system when we set of atomic weapons. Spent about 2 years parking in orbit near us and sending out small probes. The probes were saucer shaped to enter the atmosphere and had extendable wings to fly around to take pictures. Then they flew out SSTO with some kind of super efficient atomic rocket maybe. Ayys left in the 60s and never came back because they had to head home light years away. They are probably machines or beings with crazy life extension tech enabling them to cruise the galaxy for so long.
