Natural selection isn't the only reason for evolution. There are many factors. The genome itself is a major reason why evolution takes place. The genome is constantly changing and creating new species in the process. In a vacuum, evolution would still take place. Natural selection is merely natures way of "trimming" the species that are unable to survive a particular environment.
