Blacks (and Australian Aboriginals) are known to overestimate their abilities, even academic ones. This is a well-published statistical phenomena. IIRC, East Asians actually rate their own abilities lower than blacks do, yet we all know who actually possesses more ability.

Hey /sci/,

I'm looking for some historical insight here.

It always pisses me off when people argue that Hitler is but a figurehead, a cog in the inexorable mechanisms of time, and that if he had died prematurely another would have risen to take his place. This seems to me akin to arguing that the German people/soldiers bore no responsability for the persecution of the jews, because they were just "obeying orders", but that's beside the thrust of my argument: from the little that I do know of Hitler (admittedly not a lot about him personally, though I have had my share of German history), it seems to me that you can find no better example of a strong-minded person bending the will of the masses to his personal purpose, and therefore forging history in an inimitible way.
