Science can't answer how the universe was created, how life came into being, or how man came into being. Every one of "science's" answers for that is really just a world view philosophy falsely called science, none of it can or has ever been proven with observational science.

How/why can be interchanged by the wording of the question.

If a camera takes a picture of a tree, the tree is, or was, real, but the tree in the photograph is not real, it is ink on a page.
If an eye sees a tree via light bouncing off said tree, is the image you receive real? At what point does it become not real, or a copy? When it is exchanged from photons to neurons?
If it is not real, then is anything our eyes interpret real?
If not, how can trees be real if our eyes aren't real?

Hey /sci/ i have a question about significant figures and was hoping to find some help with a problem.

The problem is :
0.340 X 10^-1 - 1.20X 10^-2

I believe it should have 3 significant figures. the answer, however, only has 2. Do zeros not count as significant figures when adding and subtracting? Please help? Thanks!

I just dont feel like lower education is valuable at all. Its like day care for teenagers. I blame the government. I think they are really bad at providing education. It could be argued that education is a public good, or that, everyone should get the opportunity to go to school. I can agree to those statements but I dont think we need a public school system to do that.

Yeah I do think private schools can replace our public school system. We spend the most money per student in lower education, and it does nothing.

Our university level education is excellent though. Some people talk about providing that to people for free like lower education. That is such a bad idea. That is going to fuck everything up if that happens. The quality of education will go down, and now people with actual capacity will just have to spend even more time in school to prove their worth.

I mean, I have my reservations on a lot of research done in the social sciences, but at least I've read some papers and know that there's definitely good science in there too.

With non-physical sciences, it's too easy to slip into, "this is what we know" - partly because you don't have experiments with physical stuff to serve as a reminder
