1. If a person has $40,000 left over after taking away 25% of their total salary, how much was their initial salary? Yes I know this is retardedly simple, but I don't know the equation and the answer is eluding me.

2. If a person has $60,000 left over after taking away 28% of their total salary, how much was their original salary?
