waves reflected from surface of earth hit carbon in the atmosphere and certain waves are sent back in all direction. this means that more waves stay on earth for longer. each carbon atom can send a wave back in all directions and we are talking about a fuck ton of atoms and possibilities so you are going to need some big boy math and physics to model this accurately.

FACT #1: carbon dioxide emission spectrum overlaps sun's spectrum in many areas resulting in a lot of the sun IR waves being reflected back to earth. water vapor is a lot worse but water vapor condenses at relatively low temperatures/normal pressure and its availability varies greatly.
FACT #2: Carbon dioxide abundance in air has increased significantly due to human activity. it has went from 300ppm to 410ppm and it's still increasing.

For the pic related sorry. Look up greenhouse gases on Google if you are interested in all the mechanisms in detail.

So only a small frequency band of infrared light is solely absorbed by co2? Most frequencies which are absorbed by co2 are absorbed by water vapour. So what is the real affect of co2 increase? Should we be more worried about the increase in h2o in the atmosphere?

Pic related. Trying to make sense of it.

CO2 induced Global Warming is impossible.
The infrared emission spectrum of CO2 is 100% saturated adding more doesn't make a difference.

Adding Methane to the atmosphere yes, adding Sulfur yes, but adding CO2 is inconsequential.
