Yep, virtual environments definitely moidify and can narrow down reasoning skills. This is actually what frustrates me the most. We never really watched much for television, however my view of the purpose of media was a mechanism for mind expansion, it was intended to convey a vision and therefore was "the means" so to speak. The game Pikmin comes to mind, one of my favorites, and it really solidified and expanded my fascination with the notion of ecology at various scales, and having tiny people in environments. Instead of providing this sort of value, most media is just mind numbing garbage, brainwashing, and propaganda. The child is now "lovingly" raised by its Tablet-iMother. It is all deliberately designed to be reductive, to strip the individual down.
