/sci/ wouldn't know real biology if it bit them on the ass (which, in some cases, it could). /sci/ doesn't give a shit about metabolic pathways. /sci/ doesn't understand a community matrix. /sci/ doesn't know what karyotype megaevolution is (answer: weird). Seriously, /sci/'s opinion on biology is invalid. They think the stuff they learn in intro courses is real biology. It's not like we do that for physics or chemistry. Just remember: You're a biologist. You deal in systems. You see how important all the sciences are and how they feed into each other. I've seen stuff in biology dragged up from information theory (See: Shannon index). It's awesome.

Also, premeds suck. you must be new to the major. You will hate them.

Ignoring OP and focusing on this post, 'chimaeras' are useful for studying human things without actually trying to use humans. It's not, like, hybrids or something. It's more like having a goat produce a human blood-clotting factor so you can study it. It's useful! However, I agree that would should consider the ethical issues. Whether laws are necessary is up to debate. I think most scientists are all too aware of the blurry line and the ax of public opinion that you receive if you cross it. As long as the laws don't hinder good science (See: many stem cell laws), they're fine.

You know what, I fuckings hate it when people label themselves as agnostics. Ok, you belive god could exist?

If anything, Einsteins version of pantheism is the only way to go. It basicly is just not giving a fuck, even though not giving a fuck is even better. The universe is awsome. We can bearly comprehend anything about it, and even that is human comprehension.

On a level it's impossible to not be agnostic about everything. SO WHY THE FUCK SAY YOU ARE. I labeled myself as an agnostic when i was around 12, then i realised it was just ridicoules to give a flying fuck.
