Sources on what exactly? Poverty being the mother of crime (well that one is pretty much a given)? Rome becoming cannibalistic? I don't have an exact source for this, I'm pretty sure I heard it in a documentary about the fall of Rome. As for the developed world exploiting and oppressing the the developing world, historically speaking we tend to force these nations into the production of raw goods, just to export to the developed world to create things with, then sell them back to the developing world for tremendous profit. On top of that, the World Bank tends to loan these nations money for gigantic development projects like hydroelectric damns, then keep the nation they loaned to perpetually in their pocket with debt. Oh, and we're privatizing all their drinking water (watch "Blue Gold" on netflix instant queue).
Pic related.

The government is only in the state that it is in because of the corporate barons of America influence politics for their own financial gain. It IS in their best interest to keep their consumers uneducated. The government isn't the central issue here, the real problem is a blind, fat, comfortable, free market that is speeding down the mountain at 90mph with the hood on fire. We continue with our puppet lives on luxury while the world burns underneath us. The real reason weed is illegal is because the wide scale productions of marijuana and hemp contends with preexisting, well established, agricultural and pharmaceutical corporations. This isn't crazy rambling, this is verifiable, they buy politicians, they buy supreme court justices. Money is the new god and they are the high priests.

Oh look, a capitalist fuckwit.

>If it was indeed a successful business model then why have we never seen it manifest in any significant way? The 'workers' are ready and able to own 'the means of production' (I put it in quotation marks because it is ill defined) but they do not partly because their time preference is too high, meaning that they assign higher value to present goods over future goods.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooperative

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_Socialist_Federal_Republic_of_Yugoslavia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recovered_factory

There's a 'significant manifestation'.

And owning things does not have anything to do with time. Management and ownership are distinct roles. Workers mostly do not own the means of production because 1) it costs money, which if they had much of, would turn them into capitalists, and 2) it's EVIL SOCIALISM OH NO.

sup /sci/

can someone explain to me how to figure out confidence intervals?

ex.A sample of 12 observations is selected from a normal population for which the population standard deviation is known to be 4. The sample mean is 17.

or this one

"It is estimated that 60 percent of U.S. households subscribe to cable TV. You would like to verify this statement for your class in mass communications.

If you want your estimate to be within 5 percentage points, with a 95 percent level of confidence, how large of a sample is required? (Round your answer to the next whole number.)"

It should be pretty easy for anybody whos not retarded at math liek me

Yea, pretty much, but instead of millions starving it will be billions.

See the pic- Green countries will have a population explosion, and the rest of the world will suffer whilst they work in factories making pennies an hour so we can keep our economies going. Or something. I'm straying here, need sleeps >_<
