Cancer is actually a form of life, evolved from humans. An immortal strain of rogue, parasitic, cells.

When I say actually. Actually, any definition of life is arbitrary. There is no hard distinction, only degrees of complexity and warring opinion. Where do chemicals end and life start? Fire has a metabolism - vira copy their genes, crystals make copies of themselves. I hold that the one tenable criteria of life is a selective interaction, simple as may be. If an organism has a choice it's alive. As such bacteria may not be under this definition, though they do inarguably descend from the same genes as we do.

About entropy. Yes, life represents a decrease in entropy, but only by increases in entropy elsewhere, namely the sun.

It can never be stressed enough that evolution is not solely genetic, nor biological, but a universal law of nature at all levels. Man's progeny is still in its infancy, the extended phenotype that may yet steal a life of its own. At the extremes of complexity, our heritage consists of our every effect upon the world, though by evolution only a scant few will find lasting forms.
